About Memefile
Memefile is where you look up a meme or slang term and find out what it means and where it came from. See a template you like? Open it in the generator and make your own.
An independent project
Memefile combines an internet-culture reference library with a browser-based meme creator. The archive explains meaning, origins and variations; the creator lets you adapt a format, keep an editable local draft, and export an image or animation.
The bylines below identify editorial functions, not individual staff biographies. The archive includes AI-assisted material and is undergoing a source and image-credit review. We distinguish documented evidence from uncertain origins, and do not claim that every historical entry has completed a manual fact check.
Read our editorial policy for the review process and limitations. Corrections from readers are reviewed before publication. Activity summaries describe this site’s collection and community; they do not measure the whole internet.
