The Huh Cat is a chubby, mostly white cat named Ben, whose owner posts as @planetvenus500 on TikTok. The now-iconic clip shows Ben leaning toward the camera and letting out a short, startled-sounding meow, eyes wide and mouth open. The footage was first posted around September 2021; the original was later deleted and re-uploaded on February 12th, 2023, where it drew more than 2 million plays and roughly 332,000 likes within two months. On its own the video is simply a cat begging for food, but its timing and expression made it perfect raw material for editing.

Huh Cat conveys blank confusion, disbelief, or a deadpan “wait — what did you just say?” It is the visual equivalent of a hard record-scratch: you drop it under a baffling statement, a nonsensical take, or a plot twist, and the cat’s wide-eyed, open-mouthed “huh?” does the reacting for you.
