The joke depends on the word “oof.” It is the sound the character makes in Roblox when they die — a short, comic grunt that became one of the most recognisable audio cues in children’s gaming, and which has functioned online for years as an expression of sympathetic wincing at someone else’s misfortune.

The template’s contribution is the idea that oofs come in sizes, and that some situations require the largest available setting.
