Origin

The frame is from Monsters University, the Pixar prequel released on June 13, 2013. Sulley is trying to quiet Mike Wazowski, and he does it by bringing his hands toward Mike’s mouth and pinching his fingers together — the universal gesture for stop talking — while wearing an expression of calm, faintly smug satisfaction.

Isolated, the gesture reads completely differently. Sulley appears to be delicately savouring something: fingers pinched, eyes half-closed, entirely content.

Pleased Sulley signals quiet, refined approval — the reaction to something small and perfect. It is the face of appreciating a detail: a well-executed joke, a neat solution, a satisfying piece of craft.
