Trogdor the Burninator originated in a 2003 ‘Strong Bad Email’ segment on Homestar Runner, in which Strong Bad answers a request to draw a dragon. He builds Trogdor step by step — starting with an ‘S,’ adding a ‘beefy arm,’ and topping it with ‘consummate V’s’ for scales — then narrates a heavy-metal-style song about the dragon burninating peasants and the countryside. The catchy song and crude design made Trogdor an instant favorite. He recurred throughout the site.
